a double-knit aromatic sachet
FIR-CONE SACHET
This pattern was originally published in Interweave Knits Gifts 2014.
It uses double-knitting for a unique reason, considering that only one layer will be visible when it’s complete. Double-knitting makes the complex colorwork easier to do without distorting the fabric and gives you a double layer of fabric for better structural stability. When the piece is done, choose which layer you prefer and sew up 3 sides. Then fill the sachet with leftover pine needles from your (or a neighbor’s) Christmas tree and sew up the fourth side.
Because the work is self-lining and worked in grippy yarn, the pine needles are unlikely to fall out between stitches.
