a double-knit shawl with simple shaping

KAZAGURUMA

This pattern was originally released in 2013 for the Willow Yarns Colorwork Club. It was the final pattern, and the first shawl I’d ever designed. The rights reverted to me years ago although I only found out recently. New photos will come when I am able to have the pattern re-knitted and photographed.

The pattern started out with a simple Scandinavian snowflake, but rather than the traditional use, I’ve tiled it in an intriguing way. The negative space shows off a set of rotating pinwheels!

The word kazaguruma in Japanese translates to “pinwheel,” but it also refers to a particular species of 8-petaled clematis flower, so kazaguruma could also visually refer to the snowflake pattern!

Where can I get it?
