a double-knit scarf with a woven motif

PHOENIX

In 2020, my condo building in Cambridge burned down, taking all my belongings including my copious yarn stash with it. Some things were rescued during the demolition but none of the yarn could be salvaged. Within weeks, a fan reached out to me and offered two skeins of Kauni, one of my favorite yarns.

I decided to dedicate these two skeins to a pattern that might help me “rise from the ashes, ” and over the 5 years since then, I’ve worked on this scarf on and off. I decided I wanted it to be the first pattern I released from the rebuilt condo.

It's based on an overshot woven blanket from my childhood that was in storage during the fire; I wanted to offer a nostalgic nod to one of the few physical reminders of bygone days that I still have.

Where can I get it?
