A double-knit textured hat with a two-pattern option

EUREKA

To put a cap (pun intended) on the textured double-knitting in my new book, I decided to cram all the techniques I still wanted to teach into one pattern. As seems to be typical for me, I designed a hat with them.

This hat puts textured double-knitting to a different use, and adds a technique called quilted double-knitting to link certain areas together with vertical color changes rather than horizontal. There’s an exclamation point in the largest triangle, giving rise to the name of the hat — but there’s also an option for a question mark that’s readable on both layers.

This pattern is available alone as well as in my book Double or Nothing: Reversible Knitting for the Adventurous.
