Share the (Double-knitting) Love
Back in 2011, I wrote Extreme Double-Knitting to show knitters how far you could take a fairly straightforward technique. With my 2016 book, Double or Nothing: Reversible Knitting for the Adventurous, I have taken a few more steps toward a world where double-knitting is demystified further and knitters can really make it their own. In 2018, I got the rights back for my original book and self-published a revised edition of Extreme Double-knitting that improves on the 2011 edition in a number of ways.
Do you love double-knitting as much as I do? Do you want to help spread the word to your friends? Here are a few things you can do.
Like (and follow) me on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram. If email is more your speed, join my email list.
Tell your friends. Your friends value your opinion, so please feel free to recommend my books and patterns. If you follow me on social media, share my posts so your friends will see them. If you’re on my email list, forward my messages to friends you think would like them.
Tag me on social media. If you’re knitting one of my patterns, tag me on Instagram or Facebook, and I’ll do my best to repost. Same goes if you’re a designer, and you’ve incorporated techniques you learned from me: I want to support you, so tag me. Feel free to give me a shout-out in your pattern.
I can come to your town. Local bookstores and yarn shops want to hear from their customers. Let them know that you want them to stock my patterns and books and ask your LYS about bringing me in for workshops. Be sure to check my schedule and see if you’re near one of one my upcoming teaching gigs.
Tell your guild. I do speaking engagements and have presented about my techniques and adventures in the world of knitting design and publishing. Also, see above about teaching — sometimes guilds and LYSs will collaborate to bring me in.
If you liked or loved my book, leave a review! New customers often want to know what other people think about a product before buying. If you bought my book from my web store and created an account when you did it, you can log in again and leave a review on the product page! You can also leave reviews at Goodreads or Amazon.
Get a review copy! Are you a podcaster or blogger or in some other way an influencer in the knitting world? Get in touch with me! I’m happy to send you a free PDF of one of my books for review, and I’m happy to offer a copy for a giveaway.
Take my Craftsy class! It’s a great introduction to double-knitting, as well as to me and my teaching style. It’s an excellent complement to my patterns and books, if a little dated. Visit (and subscribe to) my YouTube channel for an increasing number of my own videos too.
Found a mistake? No matter how scrupulous the tech editing, there will always be things that slip through the cracks. Please email me to let me know if you find something amiss. I’ll be sure to get back to you ASAP.
Thank you for your support and interest in double-knitting!
